Outlook error 0x800cccdd

If you are receiving the error code: 0x800CCCDD in Outlook, this is specific to the IMAP set-up. The error will look something like this on the Everyone.net system:

Protocol: IMAP
Server: imap.everyone.net
Port: 143
Error Code: 0x800CCCDD.

This error is due to a problem on how Outlook handles the IMAP connection. This can be fixed by removing the auto-check.

1 In Outlook, click on 'Tools' or 'Send/Receive' to bring up additional menu.
2. Click on 'Define Send/Receive Groups'
3. Under the setting for Group "All accounts", uncheck the box indicating "Schedule an automatic/send receive every [x] minutes."
4. In addition, uncheck the box under the Offline section for "Schedule an automatic/send receive every [x] minutes."
5. Close/save the settings.

The IMAP service does not require a setting to consistently check mail. By definition, as long as your IMAP is on-line, it will keep a constant connection to the server continuously checking for updates, hence no automated system needs to be set for this.

Other Notes: Although Everyone.net does allow the usage of the MS Outlook, Outlook Express, and Live programs, we are not Microsoft. Reading up on this particular error, the above appears to work for most conditions. However, further errors indicate users may also need to download separate applications to fix their Outlook profiles and PST files. Although we can assist with initial set-up, you may have to contact Microsoft directly with more support if this problem persists.
