Domain Name Slamming

Beware of illegal or deceptive solicitations to renew your domain name (e.g. example.com).

There exist unscrupulous individuals and organizations that abuse public domain name registration information in an attempt to deceive domain name registrants with bogus service expiration notices. This deceptive tactic is akin to the illegal practice of telephone slamming. Do not be fooled.

If you registered a domain name with your Everyone.net email service, it will automatically be renewed as part of your email service so long as your email service is in good standing, and you have not transferred your domain name from Everyone.net to a different host.

Organizations known to use deceptive tactics include:

  • Domain Notification Center (New York, NY) - Sends bogus expiration notices by fax.
  • Domain Registry of America (http://www.droa.com) - Sends bogus expiration notices by USPS offering to renew domain names at $25.00 for 1 year. To remove your public information from the DROA marketing mailing list database, please contact them directly and request that they remove your address from their records for all domain names. You need not provide your name.
  • Liberty Names of America (http://www.lnoa.com) - This service may no longer legitimate, and should be ignored.
